The Libyan national football team suffered Friday a 2-0 loss against Egypt, in a friendly match played in Aswan stadium amid very careful playing tactics by the two teams.

The match was a good chance for Libya’s coach, Javier Clemente, to assess the players’ performance after long time on the bench.

The match was suspended for 15 minutes during the first half of the match after the Egyptian police fired tear gas to disperse the angry fans who gathered outside the stadium, demanding to attend the match, but they were refused to enter as an Egyptian sports committee had agreed on a specific number of spectators to be allowed in the stadium.

Meanwhile, the match comes as part of the Libyan team’s preparation to play Sao Tome and Principe in March in the qualifiers of Cup of African Nations, Gabon 2017.
