Zintan Military Council has refused Leon’s proposed names for the government and called on Libyans to gather for a domestic dialogue that includes all Libyan parties except for the House of Representatives and the General National Congress as the mandate term of both has finished.
“We reject all of the names proposed by Bernardino Leon for the national unity government since he singled them out according to a city-based division not according to qualifications and expertise.” The council said in a statement on Friday.
The Zintani council also rejected the self-extension of mandate by Tobruk parliament and criticized its members for being out of Libya most of the time.
“Most of them were out of Libya and they were unable to obtain a quorum except for the extension meeting. We have seen nothing from them but disrespect to laws and regulations.” The statement reads.
UNSMIL head Bernardino Leon announced Thursday the names proposed for taking up sovereign positions in the national unity government and the Supreme State Council as well as the chief of national security, which all met with wide-nation rejection.
