The Libyan Administrative Control Authority's (ACA) Head Nasser Hassan warned Monday of an environmental disaster that could happen on Tripoli's corniche, saying water is leaking under the road linking Tripoli port to Shaab port.

Hassan's claims were based on a technical report prepared by the Ministry of Transportation's Maritime Constructions Firm.

"The report shows the horrifying disinter that could ravage the corniche and its surrounding if water kept leaking." Hassan added, calling on authorities to take heed of the serious issue and resolve it as soon as possible.

Like all public areas and services, the corniche in Tripoli is not being care for by neither the government nor the people.

Security apparatuses shut the corniche previously for vehicles for fear of its collapse as many fractures in its concrete structure had been seen over the last years.

According to the Tripoli municipality at the time, the corniche from in front of Waddan Hotel to Tripoli port was closed for all vehicles, leaving it free for pedestrians.
