The Military Engineering Unit found on Thursday unexploded ordnances in two sites south of Tripoli.

The Department of Moral Guidance has confirmed it had received a report from a resident in Wadi Al Rabi district who discovered some remnants in the cement brick factory in the area.

Another citizen reached out to the department to report explosives near the Khanoura gas station in Khalat Al Forjan area.

Both areas were one of the main lines of defence that witnessed the most intense fighting during Khalif Haftar's bid to wrest control of the capital in April 2019.

Members of the explosive ordnance disposal team moved to the site upon receiving the report and are planning to dispose of the remnants per international standards after transferring them to the stockpiling point set for these explosives, says the Military Engineering Unit.

Scores of civilians, most of whom returned to their homes after a forced evacuation due to Haftar's military campaign against the area, fell victims to the war remnants and landmines, according to the UN.

The Libyan army, the U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM), and independent analysts accuse Haftar's militia of planting Russian-made landmines, many of them deliberately left in residential neighborhoods before fleeing from their positions south of Tripoli.
