The Turkish Defense Minister, Hulusi Akar, said Saturday that Turkey isn't a foreign force and will continue to support Libya in the name of 500-year-old history between the two countries.

Visiting TCG GELİBOLU frigate off Libyan coast, Akar said Ankara came to Libya upon bilateral military, education and consultation agreements of cooperation that aren't against the international law.

He indicated that Turkey would continue to provide support and training as well as advisory support to Libyan Army forces so they can attain international standards, adding that Ankara’s aim "is for Libya to remain united, secure and stable," and that Haftar and his allies "are the problem in Libya".

Akar arrived in Tripoli coming from Italy. He was received by Libyan and Turkish officials at Mitiga Airport before he visited Turkish Forces headquarters then the frigate off the coast.

Meanwhile, a Turkish delegation headed by Foreign Minister, Mevlut Cavusoglu, and included the Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu, Chief of General Staff Yasar Guler, spy chief Hakan Fidan, communications director Fahrettin Altun and presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin arrived in Tripoli Saturday and met with the Libyan Prime Minister Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah to discuss bilateral relations and boost cooperation.
