The commander of the self-styled army Khalifa Haftar arrived Sunday in Cairo and met with the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.

The spokesman for the Egyptian President Bassam Rida said the meeting would be for discussions of the latest developments in Libya.

No more details were given by the spokesman about the meeting, however; analysts say Haftar would ask for political and military support for his war on Tripoli as his forces had suffered numerous losses over the last 9 days.

Haftar has been to Russia on unannounced visit over the last days as part of his campaign to bring support for his military operations in Tripoli.

Over the last two days, Haftar's forces have lost positions in southern Tripoli and vital camps like Aziziya and Heera to Libyan Army forces under the command of Presidential Council.

According to the spokesman for the Presidential Council Muhannad Yunis, there will be no ceasefire or negotiations until Haftar's forces withdraw to their previous positions.
