The Sudanese Foreign Ministry refuted the news about using its citizens in Ganfouda as human shields by the warring groups in Benghazi, saying they are stuck with other foreign workforce in the district due to clashes.

The spokesman of the Sudanese Foreign Ministry, Gareeb Allah Al-Khadir, told Sudan News Agency Monday that the number of the Sudanese nationals who are trapped inside Ganfouda is 85, including three families.

Al-Khadir added that the Sudanese Embassy in Tripoli and its consulate in Al-Bayda are communicating with the Libyan authorities to make sure the Sudanese nationals in Benghazi are safe, saying they called on the Libyan authorities to find safe passages to get them out.

On August 12, five Sudanese nationals were reportedly killed due to heavy bombardment by Khalifa Haftar’s warplanes backed by the foreign fighter aircrafts.
