The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs participated on Tuesday in a meeting of senior officials in Rome to discuss the current situation in Libya.

A statement by the Qatari Foreign Ministry said that at the head of its delegation was Khalid bin Youssef Al-Sada, the Ambassador of Qatar to Italy, and Qatar's Ambassador to Libya, Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Dosari.

The meeting was an opportunity to exchange views on the developing situation in Libya and promote a coherent international position to support the Libyan-led political process, facilitated by the United Nations, Qatar's Foreign Ministry said.

Qatar's delegation reiterated their country's support for the Libyan political track and relevant Security Council resolutions and for a peaceful solution that preserves Libya's unity, stability, and sovereignty that would achieve the aspirations of its people.

It is noteworthy that the UN Special Adviser on Libya Stephanie Williams arrived last Monday in Rome, where she met the Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio and Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias.
