The Presidential Council has dissolved the Tripoli-based Special Deterrence Force (SDF) and ordered the formation of Deterrence Anti-Organized Crime and Terrorism Apparatus, which it said will be part of the interior ministry.

"All the SDF belongings will be taken over by the new apparatus, which will be based in Tripoli as well, with other offices to be announced later." The order says.

The apparatus will secure Tripoli's ins and outs and be part of the security plan of the capital issued by the interior ministry, besides being committed to state strategies regarding fighting thieves and smugglers, not to mention securing elections, official events and nonofficial ones licensed to take place in Tripoli.

"There will be a use of technology as well in tracking down criminal networks and outlaws by exchanging information with sate departments responsible for fighting terror threats." the order reads.

According to the interior ministry, his new apparatus will have its own annual budget from the government.

The SDF is an armed group operating under the umbrella of the interior ministry, fighting over the last years IS militants and failing several attacks plotted by them or other terrorists, yet it is notorious for being loyalist to the Salafist-Madkhalist ideology.

The SDF was also listed in international reports for abuse, torture and kidnap outside state authorities, besides running a notorious jail where human rights are being abused.
