Spokesperson of Presidential Council chairman, Mohammed Sallak, has expressed the Presidential Council’s support for the unification of Libyan army, saying it’s closely following up Cairo meetings with the army officers of the Presidential Council.

In his weekly presser in Tripoli on Monday, Sallak said a final agreement on this issue should be reached, but after defining roles of the civil authority represented by the Supreme Commander of the Libyan Army - Fayez Sarraj - according to the Libyan Political Agreement.

“Unifying sovereign institutions cannot be separated from the inclusive political solution,” he remarked.

Meanwhile, Chairman of Presidential Council Fayez Sarraj held a meeting with President of the High Council of State Khaled Al-Mishri and Chief of the Western Military Zone Osama Al-Jwaili to discuss ways of reactivating the military institution.

According to the media office of the Presidential Council, the three officials also discussed the ongoing security arrangements in Tripoli, in addition to the security situations in other regions and cities.

In other developments, five police personnel were found dead in Tripoli on Sunday. Abu Salim Central Security Department said the five victims had been arrested by the 7th Brigade during the latest Tripoli clashes.
