The House of Representatives (HoR) on Monday suspended a session to discuss the collapse of the county's first presidential elections with the head of the High National Commission (HNEC) Emad El-Sayeh.

Explaining the reason for the decision, Parliament Spokesman Abdullah Blehaq said that the Parliament wants to give the HNEC time to communicate with the relevant authorities in order to lift "the state of force majeure" and set a new voting date.

Monday's session was devoted to listening to the head and members of the HNEC, who would brief the MPs on the reasons that led to the delay of the elections.

The HNEC had previously announced a proposal to shift the elections to January 24. However, observers considered the date unrealistic, saying it is difficult to hold the elections due to the persistence of the same obstacles.
