More than one hundred illegal migrants were rescued on Monday in eastern Tripoli; three days after another hundred migrants were intercepted in the same area before making their way to Europe.

The Libyan Coast Guard rescued the 121 African migrants off Al-Qaraboulli, 60 km to the east of Tripoli, when their boat broke down 10 miles from the coast.

The migrants are from Senegal, Ghana, Gambia, Cote d'ivoire and Egypt.

On Thursday, 110 migrants were intercepted off Al-Qaraboulli during a night coast guard patrol. The migrants, including 14 women were from different Arab and African countries.

Al-Qaraboulli, a rural town, is well known as a hub for human smugglers.
