NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg, said that stability in Libya is major to achieve the goals of any upcoming project that offers assistance to the country.

Speaking in a press conference yesterday evening in Brussels prior to a meeting for the NATO members to be held in Turkey (May 13-14), Stoltenberg stressed that the support for Libya won’t be possible unless all actors come to terms and reach an agreement, which would bring the current chaos to a decisive end.

He clarified that NATO is always on alert to help Libya build its defensive forces by training the staff as well as reconstructing the infrastructure and institutions of the Defense Ministry.

He pointed out, from Brussels, that NATO fully supports the efforts made by the UNSMIL’s head Bernardino Leon, stressing that the NATO assistance package to Libya will furnish the discussion table as soon as possible.
