Fuel stations have been obliged to have an e-mail address as part of new measures introduced by the minister of economy aimed at controlling the distribution of fuel and curtailing smuggling activities.

The Ministry of Economy and Trade disclosed the decision of minister Mohammed Al-Hawaij on its Facebook account on Tuesday.

Every truck carrying fuel will have to install a GPS tracking device and an indicator to show the number of liters it carries.

The decision also prohibits Brega Oil Marketing Company from providing fuel and oil derivatives to transporting trucks until verifying the two conditions contained in Article 1 of the decision.

The ministry directed its monitoring departments in municipalities to verify the legal calibration certificates for the fuel stations where the fuel is being discharged.

It further ordered the local commercial registry offices not to grant, renew or amend any restrictions in the commercial records for any fuel stations until addressing their legal status.
