The Libyan Prime Minister, Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah, and the Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Menfi, as well as members Abdullah Al-Lafi and Mossa Al-Koni, arrived in Sirte from Tobruk to meet with the 5+5 Joint Military Commission (JMC) after the Government of National Unity was sworn in at the House of Representatives.

The visit to Sirte aims to catch up with 5+5 JMC meetings in the presence of UN Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) discussing the reopening of the coastal road and departure of foreign mercenaries.

This third meeting of the 5+5 JMC eighth round as delegations from the Government of National Accord and Khalifa Haftar's forces are discussing the points of agreement from previous meetings, especially the departure of mercenaries from Libya.

The 5+5 JMC is appointed to implement the ceasefire agreement signed on October 23, 2020. It is also reviewing operations of mine clearance to reopen the coastal road.
