Two ISIS suicide bombers blew themselves up at the courts complex in Misrata after heavy exchange of fire with the security guards, killing 4 people and wounding more than 40 others.
Local sources said three ISIS attackers stormed the courts complex prior to a scheduled trial for a group of ISIS prisoners and exchanged fire with the security guards for around 20 minutes before two of them detonated themselves with explosive belts at one of the floors. The third attacker was reportedly killed in the shootout before escaping.
The explosion caused extensive damage to the building.
Misrata Central Hospital said 3 people were killed and 35 others were wounded in the attack, some of them are in critical condition.
In Tripoli, the Diplomatic Police placed forces on high alert outside foreign embassies after the ISIS attack in Misrata.
