The Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Aqilah Saleh arrived Wednesday in the Republic of Congo to attend the African Union summit on Libya's crisis.

The summit is aimed at discussing the Libyan current dilemma and the African initiatives meaning to bring the conflicting parties in Libya together and end the political deadlock.

A Congo's Foreign Ministry representative arrived in Libya last week and invited the Speaker of the HoR, the Head of the Presidential Council of the UN-proposed government, Fayez Al-Sirraj, and the Head of the High Council of State, Abdelrahman Al-Sweihli, and the commander of Dignity Operation, Khalifa Haftar.

He also invited the Tunisian President, the Secretary General of the Arab League, and the Algerian Foreign Minister.

A source close to Al-Sweihli said earlier that Al-Sweihli won't attend the summit if Haftar did as the latter has gotten no legitimate authority to be attending such an event, according to the source, adding that if he had to go, then Libyan western military officials must go too.

Pro-Haftar Al-Hadath TV Channel said that Haftar refused the invitation to the summit without giving further details.

The African Union summit on Libya will commence on September 09 in Brazzaville.
