The so-called General Command of Khalifa Haftar's forces urged Wednesday the Libyan Prime Minister, Abdul-Hamid Dbeibah, to extend a clear apology for his previous statement - meeting displaced people from Benghazi last Thursday - in which he said: "Benghazi will return to be embraced by the nation".

Haftar's forces added in a statement that tribes' elders and society's dignitaries as well as families of martyrs have all sent hundreds of letters demanding an apology by Dbeibah for his statement.

The statement also said Dbeibah's words are unacceptable and he should respect the martyrs' sacrifices to save Libya from extremism and terrorism, adding that despite having no links to the Government of National Unity, the General Command welcomes holding cabinet meetings in Benghazi or any other cities under its security.

Haftar's forces conditioned the visit of Dbeibah's government to Benghazi to prior coordination with the Interior Ministry's apparatuses in the city, saying the government shouldn't bring to Benghazi security personnel from cities that are plunged in chaos and under militias' control.
