12 European countries and European Union delegation to Libya have called in a statement on Sunday for the immediate release of House of Representatives member Siham Sirgiwa who was kidnapped in Benghazi in last July.

The statement, published by UK embassy in Libya, expressed deep concern regarding the continued disappearance of House of Representatives member Siham Sirgiwa, and called for her immediate release.

"We continue to call on relevant Libyan authorities to conduct urgent investigations into her disappearance, and provide an update on her whereabouts." The statement said.

The statement added that violations of international humanitarian and human rights laws will not go unnoticed, and perpetrators will be held accountable before the law.

"The trend of attacks against politicians, political activists and members of civil society, and in particular women, is unacceptable." The statement said.

Sirgiwa has been kidnapped for over three months after masked gunmen took her from her house in Benghazi - gunmen said to be from Awliyaa Al-Dam "106" Brigade of Khalifa Haftar's forces - shooting her husband in the leg and bearing her son.

Libyan officials and lawmakers, opposed to Haftar, including Benghazi lawmaker Jalal Shuwaidi, cited sources saying Sirgiwa was killed on the first day she was kidnapped.

The statement included embassies of Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, the EU Delegation, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom to Libya.
