Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah has reiterated the essential role of France in supporting the stability program in Libya and strengthening its political decision.

In a press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace on Tuesday, Dbeibah said his government is looking forward to more support from the French side in international forums, especially the Berlin 2 conference and its outcomes.

"The Libyan-French Joint Higher Committee had not met since 2002... We have agreed with the French side to activate it," the PM said, expressing his pleasure for the official return of relations between Libya and France.

Dbeibah also noted the EU support and its readiness, along with France, to support Libya in border security operations and said that there are joint projects between Libya and France that his government is looking forward to completing as soon as possible.

For his part, French President Emmanuel Macron called for ending the external interference in Libya and for the withdrawal of mercenaries, stressing his country's willingness to help Libya in this transitional stage.

Addressing Dbeiba, he added, "You can count on France in the coming weeks and months in all fields"... We fully support Libya, and a fair and transparent distribution of Libyan wealth must be guaranteed, Macron added.

On Tuesday, Dbeibah arrived in Paris from the Italian capital, Rome. Upon his arrival, he met with the French Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Armies, where he discussed political developments in Libya and the support that France could provide in this transitional phase.
