Member of the House of Representatives and the Political Dialogue Forum, Ziad Daghim, has renewed his call for holding elections before the expiry date of the road map, considering them as the only option to save the country from the danger of an upcoming popular revolution or a major civil war.

Daghim added in a press statement that the Government of National Unity and the parallel government can manage the elections each in its areas of control under the supervision of the Presidential Council and the High National Elections Commission.

He also considered the establishment of a third or new government unrealistic, describing these calls as naive.

“Withdrawing confidence from Bashagha’s government requires the approval of 120 MPs, and this is impossible while withdrawing confidence from Dbeibah’s government is more complicated”, Daghim added.

Daghim confirmed that the political dialogue forum suggested before to conduct the elections by the governments of Al-Thani and Al-Sarraj together, but they refused and it is absurd to repeat the experiment.

Daghim concluded that all the evidence confirms the impossibility of security and military solutions in Libya or a new settlement, explaining that the only way is to hold elections with the current laws with the implementation of the two governments together and obligating all candidates to leave for three months, starting from the end of June.
