The Head of Quilliam Foundation, a London-based think tank, Noman Ben Othman, said Khalifa Haftar knows for certain that Facebook and other social media pages won't help him, referring to the online virtual army loyal to Haftar.

Ben Othman added on Twitter that Haftar wished to meet Al-Sirraj in Jordan but couldn't, saying he came to grips too late that France's interests are bigger than him, so he jumped on the Italian side not knowing that it is sided with Tripoli authorities.

"His worst image perceived by Italians was when he in Palermo told the Italians he could end the perils posed by Tuareg tribesmen, asking for arms and support to do that." Ben Othman added.

He also said that Haftar needs a war to prove his potential after he has been proved weak in the political process.

"That's why he fabricated a conflict in southern borders and jumped on the fight against illegal immigration, making Tuareg tribesmen the enemy instead of terrorists." He remarked.

Ben Othman said the focus is now on protecting the armed forces and general staff that have been formed in the last years via legislative battles inside the parliament.

"We should secure them against the chaos of the mafia of the general command headed by Haftar." He indicated.

Ben Othman was a senior leader at Libyan Fighting Group and is now based in London. He was a staunch follower of Haftar since the kickoff of Dignity Operation in 2014, but later broke away from him and joined another track because - according to analysts - he knew that Haftar's political project is a failure.
