The electoral commission at Al-Zawiya municipality said Monday that the voters’ ballots were sent to the central commission of municipal elections in Libya for sorting out then the results will be sent back to Al-Zawiya electoral commission.

The commission added Monday that challenges committee will be formed after the preliminary results come out and then the results of those challenges will be announced in three days afterward.

Meanwhile, the Head of the media committee of Al-Zawiya municipality Osama Al-Cabbo said elections went smoothly and no violations were recorded, pointing out that 50 polling centers and 83 polling points received 19203 voters.

Al-Cabbo added that 11981 persons took part which is 62% - men 74% and women 26%.

Seven municipal members to be elected in Al-Zawiya including the mayor - including one representing injured revolutionary fighters and one representing women.

In 2014, Al-Zawiya failed to hold municipal elections for security and technical reasons.
