The Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar accused Greece of seeking to cancel the country’s 2019 maritime demarcation accord with Libya in the eastern Mediterranean, saying certain countries, especially Greece, have undertaken some provocative moves against the current Libyan Government of National Unity over the deal.

Akar said in an address to the country’s special forces in Ankara that Turkey and Libya had recently affirmed their commitment to the maritime agreement, and discussed the issue around it, agreeing on everything.

Akar said his country would operate with Libya as it was agreed on in the MoU from day one, and that he had communicated and conformed this to the Libyan Government of National Unity when he visited Tripoli this week.

Akar said the development of Turkish reactions with Egypt would be helpful for the ongoing relations and cooperation with Libya, saying this development is happily received by some while others are sacred by it.
