A missing woman from Benghazi has miraculously been found alive after falling into Lake Ein al-Maqarin in Budzira district seven days ago.

Head of the media office at Benghazi Medical Center, Khalil Qweider, confirmed to the parallel Libyan News Agency (LANA) that the woman had arrived at the Centre and is in good condition.

He clarified that the woman was admitted to the hospital for further checkups and medical tests, noting that she will be leaving the hospital as soon as possible after making sure that she is in a good state and does not suffer from any injuries or other complications for staying without food or water for several days.

Local media reports said the woman was found on Monday morning clinging firmly to some plants surrounding the lake. She had severe sore throat that she couldn’t shout for help.

The lady, identified as Fayza, fell into Lake Ein al-Maqarin in late December while having a walk with her son along the banks of the lake and despite the search and rescue operations that were launched; she was nowhere to be found at the time.
