Libya will come under a cold wave coupled with strong winds at the weekend, the National Centre for Meteorology (NCM) warned on Wednesday.

In its daily weather forecast, the NCM said cities and towns in the Green Mountain region in the east of the country  will be the most affected by the two-day chilly weather, starting from Thursday, December 29.

"Temperature in the Green Mountain region is expected to stand at six degrees Celsius during the day and it will fall to below zero at night,"  the NCM forecasted, adding that snow is also expected to cover the entire region.

The NCM has also warned that cold weather conditions will also prevail in the western region of the country, especially in Nafousa Mountain, where temperature is expected to record eight degrees Celsius during the day and drop to two at night.
