The UN Special Adviser on Libya Stephani Williams emphasized on Monday the need to maintain the independence of national institutions and keep it far from political attractions.

"The independence and integrity of the National Oil Corporation, the Libyan Investment Authority, and the Central Bank of Libya must be shielded from political perturbations," Williams wrote on Twitter.

She reiterated that the sovereign institutions belong to the Libyan people and should not be subjected to arbitrary pressures or weaponized for the benefit of one party or another.

The UN Rep. also highlighted the importance of transparent management and said that the distribution of wealth of the Libyan people should be a shared objective.
