Washington has welcomed "the progress" made by the Advisory Committee of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum (LPDF) towards the selection of a new interim executive authority, calling at the same time the Libyan people and the international community to prevent by all means attempts to obstruct the political transition.

In a statement, the US embassy in Libya commended the LPDF's work, saying that it reflects the clear demands of the Libyan people to end the conflict and corruption.

The US embassy also praised the efforts of the acting head of the UN mission to Libya, Stephanie Williams, and her commitment to helping Libya achieve a more secure and prosperous future, according to the statement.
