US President Donald Trump announced the extension of the state of emergency on Libya imposed since 2011 for another year.

Trump stated that the state of emergency declared on 25 February 2011 will remain in force, in order to prevent the exploitation of state assets to prolong the war, according to the White House website.

"The situation in Libya remains a threat to US national security and foreign policy," US president added, stressing the need to take measures to prevent the transfer of assets or other, by Gaddafi's family and its partners, as well as other people who obstruct the process of national reconciliation, as he put it.a
