The United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) condemned on Monday, the assault and death threats received by Finance Minister, Faraj Buomatari.

"This deplorable act constitutes a serious blow to the rule of law" the mission tweeted.

It also reaffirmed its support to the competent authorities’ decision to identify and prosecute the perpetrators, expressing readiness to provide all necessary support to state institutions and officials in their quest to serve the Libyan people through the full implementation of rule of law.

Earlier, Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha issued an order to arrest the two people accused in the assault, who were identified as Taher Erwa and Muhammad Abu Daraa, and refer them to the Attorney General's Office.
