16 civilian casualties were recorded as a result of the hostilities across Libya in March, including 5 deaths and 11 injuries, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) reported Sunday.

The UNSMIL explained that most of the injuries occurred as a result of indiscriminate shelling, shooting, and remnants of war.

The UN mission noted that the proportion of civilian casualties recorded a decrease during March, compared with previous months, adding that it had documented other injuries as a result of acts that could constitute violations or abuses of international humanitarian law in the cities of Zawiya, Benghazi and Sabha.
