The head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL), Ghassan Salame, met on Monday with the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki, in Addis Ababa.

The two sides discussed the political process in Libya and agreed to strengthen cooperation between the United Nations and the African Union to support Libyans in finding a way out of the current crisis.

Other issues discussed were how to end the transitional period and proceed to achieving unified, stable and effective institutions.

During his visit to Addis Ababa, Salame met a number of African Union officials to discuss the Libyan crisis and ways to enhance cooperation between the two international organizations to ensure peace and stability in the country.
