The Turkish Embassy in Tripoli has urged restraint and reason following the failed attempt to overthrow PM Abdul Hamid Dbeibah.

In a statement Wednesday, the embassy called on Libyan parties to refrain from any action that undermines stability, emphasizing that maintaining calm in Libya is among the priorities of the Turkish government.

In such a critical stage, the embassy said it is of most importance to solve differences through dialogue and give way to legal steps that would lead Libya to fair and free elections.

It reaffirmed support for efforts towards establishing a solid legal ground as soon as possible, commending the work of the Joint Constitutional Committee consisting of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State under the auspices of the United Nations.

Early on Tuesday an attempt by the PM-designate of Parliament Fathi Bashagha, to overtake the UN-recognized government based in the capital triggered clashes in central Tripoli and elsewhere.
