The Head of the Audit Bureau, Khaled Shakshak, called on Wednesday for the General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) to adhere to the practice of good administration, separating the individual functions and also to appoint a suitable General Manager in accordance with professional criteria.

Shakshak discussed with the board of directors of the GECOL, the proposed solutions to address the present electricity crisis, stressing the need to speed up the development of a short-term plan to solve the crisis and the importance of the ‘time factor’ in dealing with the issue.

The GECOL suffers from a large deficit in production, which has led to power outages for extended periods in most parts of the country.
