The Special Deterrence Force (SDF) said that it had killed Mahmoud Awili and his wife on Wednesday morning because of his resistance to members of the force while trying to arrest him.
The spokesman for the force, Ahmed bin Salem, said in a press statement that the killing of Awili came during an attempt to arrest him in “criminal cases at the request of the Attorney General,” saying that he had fired at members of the force, causing the injury of three of them, which in turn, forced them to open fire on him, killing him and his wife.
