The United Nations envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame, said on Saturday that the speaker of east Libya parliament, Aqailah Saleh, should respect the decisions of the Security Council, which recognizes the Government of National Accord (GNA) as the legitimate government of Libya.

In response to a question by Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper, on Saleh's attempts to withdraw the legitimacy from the GNA; Salame said that the mentioned, does not have the right to contradict the UN Security Council decisions.

Aqailah Saleh has repeatedly urged countries supporting Haftar's war on Tripoli, to withdraw international recognition from the GNA based in Tripoli.
