The President of the High Council of State (HCS), Abdulrahman Suweihli, met on Friday with the Charge d'Affaires of the US Embassy in Libya, Stephanie Williams, at his residence on the sidelines of his visit to the Tunisian capital.

Those present at the meeting discussed the latest developments regarding the political situation, the latest developments regarding the UN action plan for Libya, as well as proposals put forward by the HCS to amend the Libyan Political Agreement (LPA).

Suweihli stressed the need for the United States of America to play its role with the international community to rein in those who try to derail the political process as well as beneficiaries of the continuation of the status quo.

For her part, Stephanie confirmed her country’s support for the political process within the framework of the LPA and under the auspices of the United Nations so that stability returns to Libya.
