Chairman of the Presidential Council (PC) Fayez Al-Sarraj has agreed with the High Representative for European Foreign Policy, Frederica Mogherini on the importance of reaching a unified European position towards the Libyan crisis.

In her meeting with Al-Sarraj on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, Mogherini reiterated that the European efforts remain riveted to putting the political process back on track, stressing the EU's rejection of the attacks on civilians and for any breaches of the arms embargo, imposed by the Security Council on Libya.

For his part, Al-Sarraj underscored his government's commitment to continue to defend the capital, pointing out that the resumption of the political process must be based on new rules and take into account the new realities on the ground.
