The Italian Nova news agency said on Wednesday that the new Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Libya and head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) will be African.

The agency added, according to its private sources that if this consensus on the new envoy does not occur within three months, the mission will go to a new short-term technical postponement or it will be disbanded.

Last week, the Security Council approved a resolution to extend the UNSMIL mandate until July 31.
