The National Commission for Human Rights in Libya (NCHRL) has condemned in the strongest terms the lack of action by the local authorities of Al-Khums city toward recovering the bodies of the illegal immigrants that are washing ashore the city’s beaches.

The third scientific conference on the specification of medical responsibility was launched at the Corinthia Hotel in Tripoli on Saturday, in the presence of numerous officials from the health sector, doctors, and representatives of the Forensic Medicine and lab Department at the Judicial Expertise and Research Centre of the Ministry of Justice. Topics related to medical errors were discussed, in addition to scientific papers presented by specialists from the field of medicine and law over the determination of medical responsibility and ways to avoid it.

The Maltese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has hosted a meeting between Milad Maatouq, the Libyan Minister of Transport and the delegation accompanying him in the presence of Libya’s Ambassador to Malta Habib Al Amin with a number of Maltese officials from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Transport. According the Information Office of the Ministry of Transport, the meeting discussed aspects of cooperation between the two countries. The two sides agreed upon the need to facilitate the visa application procedures in the lead-up of resuming maritime and air transportation between both countries. The Maltese side also affirmed their intention to reopen the embassy as soon as possible emphasizing Malta's continuous support to Libya in all fields.

The Sudanese government announced in a statement the arrival of 172 Sudanese citizens returning from Libya under the voluntary repatriation program sponsored by the International Organization for Migration, according to the management system of Sudanese working aboard. The statement added that the returnees were assembled from different parts of Libya, before being deported to the capital Khartoum on board a Libyan Airlines flight.

The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) adopted on Friday a resolution on supporting the telecommunications sector in Libya as part of its assistance to countries in difficult situations. On its Facebook page, the Ministry of Communications and Informatics said that the decision came on the sidelines of the International Conference on Communication Development, which took place in the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires, clarifying that it provides assistance to Libya in developing human capabilities and expertise, in addition to developing legislation and laws in the telecommunications sector.

Inhabitants of the desert town of Ghat in southwestern Libya have protested in front of the "Tinalcom" crossing border with Algeria, demanding the Algerian authorities to open the borders for patients seeking medical treatment in Algerian hospitals. The protest comes after health service in the town and in the south generally continued to deteriorate due to the unstable situation in the region. The border has been closed for quite a while by a decision of the Algerian authorities.

The operators of the Zliten Desalination Plant have shipped several barrels of chemicals to Tobruk seawater desalination plant after it ceased operation due to running out of these substances. An official at the Tobruk station said the eight desalination plants in Libya along the Libyan coast from Tobruk to Zuwara need chemicals constantly and all declared a state of emergency for the severe shortage of chemical supplies.

The draw for the African Cup Volleyball Championship was withdrawn on Saturday in Cairo in its 21st edition. The event is to kick off on Monday in Egypt where Libya was drawn in Group B with Tunisia, Ghana, and Kenya.

Several residents of Benghazi have taken part in a protest at the invitation of civil society organizations and activists against the security chaos gripping the city, demanding a halt to indiscriminate shooting in the streets. The protesters marched in front of Al-Ahli Football Club in Qaryounis up to the Keesh Square, raising banners expressing their demands on putting an end to this phenomenon, which claimed the lives of a high number of citizens, most recently the supporter of Al-Ahli, Maher Al-Qatani.
