The Rector of Tobruk University, Abdulaziz Buhliqa, said that they will adopt some security arrangements required for all faculties of the university to maintain security and peace in the campus. This came after a meeting with the security director of Tobruk in the presence of the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Adel Abrik, Dean of the Faculty of Archaeology and Tourism, Mabruk Saleh. Buhliqa added that a new security plan will be put into place in order to deal with outlaws or anyone who tries to obstruct the educational process. Earlier, the Dean of the Faculty of Education, Adel Abrik, issued a decision to suspend classes at the college until security is provided for staff members and students, stressing that the college is exposed on a daily basis to security problems caused by outlaws.

A member of "Ayadi Al-Khayr" Charity, Al-Sayeh Al-Zanati, said on Saturday that they have launched a program to distribute food aid to displaced families in the city of Tarhuna. In a press statement, Al-Sayeh clarified that they have sent an aid convoy for 600 families of the displaced people of Sirte and Tawargha staying in Tarhuna and its outskirts, noting that the convoy was funded by the United Nations World Food Programme. He added that "Ayadi Al-Khayr" had distributed food aid to 450 displaced families in Bani Walid town, and aims to reach out to another 1,650 displaced families of Benghazi and 1000 families of Tawergha IDPs in Tripoli.

A spokesperson for so-called Special Forces of Dignity Operation, Miloud Zwai, has confirmed the arrest of suspects accused of killing the director of the Education Office in Abyar town, east of Benghazi, Salah Qaliwan. Zwai explained in a press statement that the arrest took place in cooperation with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), stressing that the suspects were handed over to the competent authorities to undertake the necessary actions. The CID had earlier denied the arrest of any suspect, noting that the investigations were still at first stage. There are fears that this crime will be covered up like other crimes and assassinations that took place in east Libya.

A source in the 301 Infantry Battalion in Tripoli said that explosives experts succeeded in defusing a car bomb in Al-Sawani district, southwest of Tripoli, in cooperation with the Central Security Force of Abu Salim. The source revealed that the explosives experts were quickly sent to the scene after receiving a tip-off about a vehicle-borne in front of a crowded market in Al-Sawani road. He added that the experts managed to dismantle the bomb before it went off, pointing out that all legal procedures have been taken without giving any other details.

A member of Derna People’s Gathering, Huwaidi Al-Qaziri, said that Khalifa Haftar's forces shelled the city on Saturday, targeting the western entrance of the city. Al-Qaziri said that the missiles fired landed opposite the neighbourhood of Khadija without causing any damage. He pointed out that Dignity Operation forces, who are besieging Derna, are repeatedly shelling the city, causing panic among the families. Dignity forces also targeted the valleys near the West Coast Mountain and Al-Salam district some days ago, with no damage was reported.

The German defense and foreign ministries announced Friday that they had destroyed the last batch of Libya's chemical weapons after disposing 500 tons of materials that could be used in producing chemical weapons. The two ministries said that the destruction process was carried out successfully and in a manner of preserving the environment at one of the facility in the German city of Münster. The load was transported to Germany in late August 2016, and it included 23 reservoirs of chemicals, which had been in the possession of the Gaddafi regime before the new authorities after the February revolution decided to dispose them with the help of the international community.

The branch of the Libyan Red Crescent Society in Benghazi revealed Saturday that it had recovered three decomposed bodies from the district of Sidi Ikreebish, which witnessed the latest clashes in the city before Haftar's forces gained control of the area. On its Facebook page, The Libyan Red Crescent confirmed that the three bodies were taken to Benghazi Medical Centre to be placed in a morgue refrigerator in order to take legal action before being buried. The branch announced on January 1 the recovery of 17 unidentified bodies near the Baladi Hotel in the war-torn city.

A spokesperson for the municipality of Sirte, Mohammed Al-Amil, announced Saturday that the United Nations Development Program has commenced in maintaining a number of schools in the municipality. Al-Ameel added that the maintenance process includes 5 schools out of 12 agreed upon, explaining that the cost of the program amounted to 2.5 million dollars. He said that the municipality received the first compactor truck for dumping garbage out of eight agreed upon by the United Nations Development Program with a capacity of 8 tons, noting that the trucks will arrive during the coming period. He also added that the UN program is to provide the municipality with nearly 200 garbage containers, and about 8 pumps to the water company in Sirte, in addition to a medical waste incinerator for the city hospital Ibn Sina.
