The Supreme Court of Tripoli has set the date of January 21 to review the appeal filed by a number of members of the Libyan Constitution Drafting Assembly (CDA) against the ruling of Al-Bayda Court on the illegality of submitting the draft constitution to a vote, a judicial source declared. Al-Bayda Court of Appeal ruled last October against the adoption of the draft constitution by the CDA.

The Libyan Red Crescent in Benghazi buried on Saturday 36 unidentified bodies in the city's public cemeteries. In a press statement, the Head of Information of the General Secretariat of the Libyan Red Crescent, Bahaa al-Kawash, said that the bodies have been kept in the morgue of Benghazi Medical Center (BMC) for more than 5 months, noting that DNA samples were taken from the bodies before being buried. Last Monday, the head of BMC morgue, Ahmed Al-Amami, called the Libyan Red Crescent to speed up the burial of the bodies accumulated inside the morgue because the remains have already started to decompose.

The Ministry of Local Government has delivered cheques worth 10 thousand dinars to each family of Tawergha IDPs affected by the fire that broke out in Sarraj camp in Tripoli earlier this month. The Information Office of the Local Council Tawergha confirmed that the cheques were handed out to the displaced persons on Thursday in the presence of the Chairman of the Council, Abdul Rahman Shakshak, pointing out that the process came with the instructions of the Minister of Local Government, Badad Qansu, during an inspection visit to the camp in mid-December.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) said that it had evacuated more than 659 refugees over this year in a third country other than the transit or original country. The UNHCR noted in a tweet that it had carried out 270 resettlements, in addition to 389 evacuations of migrants from Libya; the majority of them were children. The UNHCR said that another 1300 housing centers will be made available by the end of March next year for the resettlement of migrants.

The Arab League envoy to Libya, Salah al-Din al-Jamali, has called on the preparatory committee for the inclusive national conference, which will be held early next year, to be open to all parties including the international community. In a press statement, al-Jamali welcomed the Libyan national efforts launched by the organizers of this conference, stressing his support for national actors who are stepping forward towards the reunification of all Libyans. He also pointed out that the Arab League will not stand in the way of any civil movement that Libyans agree upon in moving towards a better life.

The Director of the Information Office of the Ministry of Health, Omar Maatouk, criticized Saturday the international organizations working in Libya for not complying with the decision made by the Ministry of Health, which requires the coordination of international organizations with the Ministry when providing support or assistance. Maatouk explained in a press statement that the Ministry of Health met with international organizations more than once to notify them of the need to coordinate with the authorities, but the organizations "did not adhere". He also added that the Ministry did not receive any response from the Prime Minister or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs despite addressing them on the violations committed by these organizations. Maatouk’s statement comes hours after the International Organization for Migration (IOM) revealed that it provided assistance to more than 40,000 illegal immigrants in Libya in 2017.

The family of Libya's former dictator Muammar Gaddafi has called on its supporters to register in the electoral system in order "to save the country and to forestall the armed militias". The family explained in a statement that the registration in the elections comes in the necessity that goes beyond all the constants and allow all prohibitions. The statement added that the call was not necessary for participating in the electoral process, but to initially register in order to create the popular momentum that will have the final word. Pro-Gaddafi calls for election were met with mixed reactions from his supporters, especially as the so-called Green Book considers the elections a mockery of the will of the people.

The 301 Infantry Battalion, a.k.a. Al-Halboos, has handed over 70 apartments of the Islamic Call Society building in Tripoli to the displaced people of Tawergha. This came after the damage caused to their camps by heavy rains and flooding last week that hit most cities in the western region. Al-Halboos said in a statement that it will oversee the maintenance process needed to make the apartments fit for receiving the families.
