The UNSMIL’s spokesperson, Sawsan Ghousha, confirmed on Sunday that a security unit will be sent to Libya in order to secure the UNSMIL headquarters in the Libyan capital before arrival of the staff in full to the country.

A policeman has sustained injuries in an attack by a militiaman from Khalifa Haftar’s self-styled army in Masakim neighborhood in the eastern city of Benghazi, sources say.

Hatif Libya Company has announced the suspension of telecommunication services of the company in addition to Al-Madar, Libyana, Libya Telecom and Technology and the banking services in the Western Mountain region. The company said that the interruption is due to a cut in the fiber-optic cable in the direction of Gasir Ben Ghashir town. Work is underway to fix the damage by maintenance technicians of the area and the network management, the company added.

The Tripoli-based Al-Ahli Football Club was held to a goalless draw on Sunday by Tunisia's Étoile du Sahel in the first leg of African Champions League quarter-final match at the Burj Al Arab Stadium in Egypt. The decisive second leg match will be held on September 24 in the Tunisian city of Sousse.

Libyan security forces closed the Ras Ajdir border crossing with Tunisia on Sunday due to tense security situation inside the Libyan territory.  Clashes erupted on Sunday morning in Sabratha city between armed factions using several types of weapons leaving some people dead and injured.

The Jordanian government has approved the appointment of Mohamed Al-Barghathi as Libya's Ambassador to Jordan, based on the Presidential Council decree in this regard, after a long period of unease on diplomatic representation between the two countries. Al-Barghathi’s selection came after agreement between the conflicting authorities in the country, especially since he'd served twice in the past, once in the Gaddafi regime and another in 2012.

Misrata Municipal Council has agreed with several municipal mayors in the south, and the managing director of Brega Oil Marketing Company- Misrata branch, to secure fuel transmission from Misrata to the Sabha depot and other areas in the south.  The municipal councils agreed to take guarantees from the forces in the south to ensure the safety of fuel trucks heading to the south, shifting full responsibility for official and civil institutions in case of attack.

The Educational Curriculum and Research Center at the Ministry of Education received Saturday the first shipment of textbooks coming from Egypt. The General Director of the Center, Al-Tahir Al-Habib, said that they have already received 5 truckloads of school books and the rest will be forthcoming consecutively, adding that fifteen other containers have also arrived at the Tripoli Port from Italy. 42 other containers are due to arrive from Italy on Monday, he said, clarifying that the total number of textbooks will be 39 million copies, which will cover all Libyan regions without exception.

The Chairman of Presidential Council, Fayez Al-Sirraj, is to participate in the 72th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, accompanied by Foreign Minister Mohammad Sayala, his Media Office said. In a brief statement, it added that Al-Sirraj is to hold bilateral discussions on the sidelines of UN General Assembly with several ministers and officials as well as participating in various Arab and African meetings.

House of Representatives member Suleiman Al-Faqih has described the attempts of the committees of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State to amend the political agreement as a "political tampering", which could lead to a political vacuum and bring us back to square one. Al-Faqih said members of the dialogue committee representing the House of Representatives were selected illegally due to the absence of the majority of parliament members during the selection, and for the failure of the Presidency Office to apply articles that allow amendments to the agreement legally.

The Antiquities Control Office in Tripoli has reported that two citizens had voluntarily handed in a number of artifacts after buying them from an outdoor antique market as worthless old objects, but which are in fact invaluable antiquities. The objects included two lamps of pottery, a small mug, and a glass base in addition to pottery fragments that have a Roman-era seal. The items are thought to be stolen from archaeological locations due to security chaos and the inability of police to control the old sites.
