The National Oil Corporation (NOC) announced that firefighting crews were exposed to heavy weapons fire while trying to control the fire of the Akakus Oil Operations Administration Building on the Airport Road in Tripoli, last Wednesday.

The NOC stated that the building suffered severe material damage after mortar shells fell on it, causing a fire that broke out on the upper floors, which are devoted to the archive of financial files.

The NOC indicated that firefighting teams and the building's protection team were able to deal with the fire, despite being actively targeted by heavy weapons fire.
