The Congolese President, Denis Sassou Nguesso, assigned by the African Union (AU) to handle the Libyan file, has dispatched a reconciliation mission on Monday to Libya to assess the situation on the ground prior to the elections due to be held next December.

The mission includes 13 people in total and is set to meet with a number of political and religious officials in Tripoli, Benghazi Tobruk, and Misrata,

It will also hold meetings with Libyans in Cairo and Tunisia, according to AFP.
