The Minister for Environment of the Government of National Unity (GNU), Ibrahim Munir, stressed the immediate need for the prevention of swimming in the beach of the Lido resort in Tripoli, due to serious issues of pollution, as he noted that sewage outlets lead directly into the seawater at the beach.

During a visit to the resort to ascertain the environmental conditions in that specific area, the minister declared that sewage flows directly into the waters there, without any form of treatment, stressing the necessity to find solutions for sewage water in general and its correct treatment.

Munir pointed out that there are no warning signs posted for the public at the location to warn them regarding pollution or a serious health hazard in the area due to raw sewage being emptied into the sea.
