Interior Minister, Fathi Bashagha has said that Russia is fueling conflict in Libya to extend its influence over Libyan oil.

Bashagha noted in his remarks to Bloomberg that Moscow had deepened the Libyan crisis by deploying the Wagner Group in the country, as it did in Syria and Central Africa before.

He pointed out that Russia sought to restore remnants of Muammar Gaddafi's regime to power in Libya, stressing that the United States has a moral and legal obligation towards Libya, and must cooperate with the Libyans to restore security and stability.
