Libya’s special envoy to the United States, Mohammed Ali Abdullah, said that the Government of National Unity (GNU) has urged the Biden administration to proceed with intended plans to reopen the US embassy, which is seen as an important symbolic message on Libya’s stability.

The Libyan News Agency quoted Abdulla as saying that a major move has taken place in the new US administration, following the election of President Joe Biden, as compared to the Trump administration, adding that there is now an open willingness on the part of the US to exert pressure where necessary.

He added that the US should now invest in admonishing some of its allies who intervene and interfere in Libya, causing major problems; however, this would not have taken place in the Trump administration.
