The Libyan Coast Guard has intercepted 280 migrants who were attempting to cross the sea, heading for Europe on five separate vessels.

The coast guard explained that the migrants were on four wooden boats with the fifth being a rubber dinghy and they were intercepted off the shores of Zuwara, noting that the migrants were handed over to the Illegal-Immigration Authority.

A video released by the Libyan Coast Guard showed a boat totally stopped at sea carrying in excess of 50 migrants on board.
