The Libyan authorities have deported a group of 14 foreign inmates who are serving their sentences in Libyan prisons back to their countries.

The Judicial Police said in a statement that it had repatriated six inmates of Moroccan nationality via the Mitiga Airport on Friday and another eight Egyptians about two days before.

The departing operation was carried out in collaboration between the deportation units at the Judicial Police and the Reform and Rehabilitation Institution of Ain Zara.

The statement explained that the Reform and Rehabilitation Institute of Ain Zara is tasked, in addition to its regular mandate, to gather convicted foreigners from Libyan prisons and organize their evacuation to their homeland.
